The Voice Of Time

Inside every gift of time, is a beautiful sound of silence.

Time is a precious commodity. We often find ourselves hurrying from one task to another, always striving to check off items on our never-ending to-do lists. How many times have I let my lists dictate my life instead of savoring the moments that time had given me?

Today, I reflect on the gift of time in my life. This gift doesn’t come in a box or with a bow, but it comes sealed from the heart of God. My time always seems to be different than His but His is always perfectly orchestrated.

His time has always allowed me to focus on what was right in front of me and where God needed me most. These past few months I stepped back from writing to receive a reminder and a gift of time that only God could provide. It was a moment that will never happen again but was filled with immense love and joy. It was a time to reconnect, to hope, to dream, to feel, to love, to grieve, to cry, to offer forgiveness, to make decisions, and to be intentionally loved and known, but most importantly, it gave me time to listen inside of the moments of silence once again. Thank you Jesus.

Hearing the silence has always been one of my most favorite things to do, yet I fail at embracing them as often as I should. It is not the absence of sound that ignites me, it is the presence of peace and tranquility that comes with it. In silence I hear God speak. I feel His touch, His captivating interest of my life. I am given clarity, direction, and hope. I find it easily in adoration, but if I pause, breathe, and listen, I can also hear it in a chaotic day. It is so beautiful, almost like a best kept secret.

When we take a moment to pause and listen, we allow ourselves to be filled with God’s love and grace. We become aware of His plans and purposes for our lives. We are reminded of His faithfulness and goodness and the best part is it’s not just about listening to God speak. It’s about how we use the time we are given.

Jesus taught us to love one another and to help others feel loved and known. We are called to be the salt and light of this world; to be selfless, patient and giving. The work is heavy, but the rewards are great.

Time is not just a measurement of minutes and hours. It is the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of those around us. It is a chance to extend a helping hand, provide support, and show compassion. When we love big and serve others, we not only bring joy and healing to others, but we also experience the blessings and fulfillment that come from doing God’s work. Our dash counts.

No matter where you are in life, no matter what your dash is made of, may you always know the voice of silence is God’s. It is love, it is peace, it is the only language He speaks.

My prayer for your today is that you are given the gift of time to feel His peace. May your day give you room for silence and hearing His voice. May you trust in His timing, feel His love, His fruitful grace and be known only through Him.
